Psychotherapy in Southend-on-Sea

Space to talk. Time to understand yourself.

When life feels difficult or the same patterns keep returning, it can help to talk with someone who listens. I’m Ben Billett, a psychotherapist at Open Arms Therapy in Southend-on-Sea.

I offer calm, personal sessions where we can explore what you are experiencing and what you would like to change. You can begin with a conversation, without pressure to commit.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a talking therapy that offers space to explore thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships. It can help you reflect on patterns in your life and consider different ways of responding.

You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation or know exactly where to start. We begin with what matters to you and take time to understand it together.

My approach is warm and collaborative. We will discuss your needs, agree how to work together and review how the sessions feel for you.

What happens in a session?

01 · Start with a conversation

A free 10–15 minute introductory call gives you the chance to explain what you are looking for, ask questions and see whether working together feels right.

02 · Explore what matters to you

In your first appointment, we talk about your experiences, the changes you hope to make and any concerns. We agree an approach together.

03 · Work at your pace

Sessions give you time to talk, reflect and explore your feelings and experiences. We can notice patterns together and review what you are finding useful.

Questions about psychotherapy

A few answers to help you feel more comfortable about starting psychotherapy.

Do I need to know what to say?

No. You can begin with a feeling, a recent experience or simply that something does not feel right. We can find a starting point together.

Is psychotherapy the same as hypnotherapy?

Psychotherapy centres on talking and exploring your experiences. Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention. We will discuss the approach before starting.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number that suits everyone. We will discuss your goals and review the work together rather than promise a particular outcome or timescale.

Can we meet online?

Online appointments are available as well as in-person sessions in Southend-on-Sea. We can discuss the practical arrangements and what feels suitable during your introductory call.
