When being yourself feels difficult

Low confidence can show up in everyday moments: holding back an idea, putting your needs last or assuming others are more capable. You may seem to be coping while feeling unsure inside.

Confidence often relates to how able you feel in a situation. Self-esteem is about how you see and value yourself more broadly. You might feel confident at work yet struggle to believe you deserve care or respect.

Therapy offers time to explore the messages you have absorbed and what a more balanced relationship with yourself could look like.

How can I help

What would you like support with?

You may be facing a particular difficulty, feeling stuck in a familiar pattern, or wanting space to make sense of how you feel.
01

Self-criticism

Explore the harsh inner voice that notices mistakes and dismisses what you do well.

04

People-pleasing

Make space for your needs and explore the worry or guilt that can come with saying no.

02

Comparing yourself

Talk about feeling behind, not good enough or less capable than the people around you.

05

Perfectionism

Look at the pressure to get everything right and what happens when your standards feel impossible.

03

Fear of judgement

Explore what makes speaking up, being seen or trying something new feel difficult.

06

Life changes

Find space to reconnect with yourself after changes in work, relationships, health or identity.

What happens in confidence therapy?

01 · A first conversation

A free 10–15 minute intro call lets you ask questions and share what you would like support with, without pressure to book.

02 · Understand your patterns

We explore self-beliefs, experiences and situations that leave you doubting yourself. You decide what to share.

03 · Practise a different response

We can explore kinder self-talk, boundaries and manageable steps towards what matters to you, reviewing the work together.

Building self-trust, one step at a time

You do not have to become louder, more outgoing or a different person to feel more comfortable with yourself. Our work can focus on what confidence means to you.

We might explore how you respond to mistakes, recognise strengths you tend to dismiss or practise expressing a preference. Small, realistic steps can give us something to reflect on between sessions.

There is no fixed timetable or promise of a particular outcome. We agree on a focus together and review what feels useful.

Questions

FAQ

Questions about confidence therapy

A few answers about confidence and self-esteem support in Southend.

Do I need to know why I feel this way?

No. You can begin with the situations that feel difficult, even if you cannot explain where the self-doubt comes from. We can explore this together at your pace.

Can I feel confident but have low self-esteem?

Yes. You might feel capable in a particular role while being very critical of yourself elsewhere. We can explore the difference between how you appear and how you feel.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies with your needs and what you want to explore. We discuss an initial focus and review the work together, rather than promising change within a fixed number of sessions.

Can we meet online or in person?

Both are available. In-person sessions take place in Southend-on-Sea / Shoebury Garrison. Your free intro call is a chance to discuss availability, fees and which option suits you.
